The Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation is pleased to open the nomination process for the 2027 Fellowship program with a submission deadline of May 15, 2026.

The award is a public recognition of the Fellows’ outstanding academic achievements and a promise of future transformative contributions.

Nomination process

The Foundation awards up to four (4) Fellowships per year, chosen among full professors (or near the rank of Full Professor) at Canadian universities, for a mandate of three (3) years. The candidates will be proposed by Canadian universities and evaluated by a peer committee, which will make recommendations to the Board of Directors.

Support offered to Fellows

The Fellowship is of a total value of $300,000 per Fellow:

• $70,000 as prize;
• $50,000 as research grant;
• Up to $100,000 as possible additional research grant;
• Up to one (1) year of teaching buy-out, with $80,000 in compensation paid to the university
