PIP Event: Pride in a Time of Prejudice by Francesco MacAllister-Caruso

On March 5, Francesco MacAllister-Caruso will host Pride in a Time of Prejudice, a one-day public forum on the state of 2S/LGBTQ+ rights in Canada. Across two panels, they’ll bring together scholars, practitioners, and community advocates to examine different dimensions of queer and trans rights.

Panel 1 will begin with a conversation on political representation, media framing, and space-making with Kit Chokly (2024 Scholar), Leah Schmidt (2025 Scholar), Debbie Owusu-Akyeeah, Quinn Albaugh, and Elizabeth Baisley.

Panel 2 will turn to the institutional side of rights – exploring how law, governance, and professional practices shape 2S/LGBTQ+ advocacy, featuring Madison Dabbs-Petty (2024 Scholar), Zoe Savitsky (2024 Scholar), Samuel Singer, and Mic Liu (2022 Scholar).

This free event is open to the public, both in person and online. Simultaneous interpretation (English to French) will also be available.
