On September 1, the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation will launch its application process for the 2027 Scholar cohort. The program is open to doctoral students who are in the first or second year of their doctoral program at the time of application.

A TWO-STEP APPLICATION PROCESS

For the 2027 application cycle, the application process is changing.

Starting September 1, 2026, prospective applicants will be able to complete an eligibility verification form. Before submitting the form, applicants must make sure they meet the Scholarship’s eligibility criteria.

This first step will allow the Foundation to confirm applicants’ eligibility before they can access the full application.
Only applicants whose eligibility has been confirmed will be able to access the official application form and continue with the selection process.

KEY DATES TO REMEMBER

• September 1, 2026: Eligibility verification form opens
• October 2, 2026: Deadline to submit an eligibility confirmation request
• Weeks of October 5 and October 12, 2026: Mandatory information sessions
• October 30, 2026, at 9 a.m. ET: Deadline for the three references to be received
• November 6, 2026, at 4 p.m. ET: Deadline to submit the complete application
