A Former 2003 Scholar Becomes a Judge!

Congratulations to the Honourable Robert Leckey (2003 Scholar) on his appointment as a judge of the Superior Court of Quebec in Montreal. He succeeds Judge Christian Immer, effective January 23, 2025.

Originally from Ontario, Judge Leckey is a eminent jurist and was, until recently, professor and Dean of the McGill University Faculty of Law. A member of the Ontario and Quebec bars, he is renowned for his work in family law, constitutional law, and administrative law.  He served as director of the Paul-André Crépeau Centre for Private and Comparative Law from August 2014 to June 2016. On 1 July 2016, he began a five-year term as Dean of the Faculty of Law. In December 2020, McGill’s Board of Governors reappointed him for a second five-year term, starting 1 July 2021. He is a member of the Bars of Ontario and Quebec and is recognized for his work in family, constitutional, and administrative law.
