Zoe M. Savitsky (she/her) is a doctoral candidate at York University’s Osgoode Hall Law School. Her research centers comparative corporate accountability, focusing on the origins and evolution of corporate expression, and how corporations have avoided legal accountability for the impacts of their deceptive expression.
Previously, Ms. Savitsky spent over twelve years in high-impact government and NGO litigation and leadership roles, managing teams and leading cases focused on racial, economic, housing, education, and environmental justice. Ms. Savitsky has also worked in public policy and has spoken and published individually and collaboratively on policy, and on her experiences as a disabled cancer survivor. She has also taught undergraduates and law students. Her volunteerism has included board membership for a disability-services NGO and legal education for detained youth.
Ms. Savitsky is from San Francisco, California. She is a graduate of Harvard College (A.B.) and of U.C. Berkeley School of Law.She speaks English and conversational French. She loves her cats and dog, cooking with her girlfriend for loved ones, hiking, and reading fiction. She hopes the Scholarship will let her learn with and from emerging-scholar-peers, develop a nuanced international perspective on global challenges grounded in Canadian values, and participate in collaboratively building better futures.
