    Profile

Cynthia E. Milton is Past President of the College of New Scholars of the Royal Society of Canada and former Canada Research Chair in the History Department at the Université de Montréal. Her interdisciplinary research projects study alternative modes of truth-telling, truth commissions, memory, cultural interventions and artistic representations in the construction of historical narratives after state violence. In her academic networking, she is concerned with the science-society disconnect in our dramatically changing world and the need for the humanities and social sciences in the diffusion of knowledge. Major honours include the Bolton-Johnson Prize for the best book published in her field of Latin American History, the Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship for Experienced Scholars and the Fernand Braudel Fellowship from the European University Institute.
