Bruce McNiven obtained a B.A. from Queen’s University (1976) and a B.C.L. from McGill University (1979). Called to the Bar in Quebec in 1981, he joined Heenan Blaikie in the same year and became a partner in 1988. Bruce McNiven is a trustee and member of the executive committee of the Montréal Museum of Fine Arts and secretary of Canada Health Infoway. He is a founding member and treasurer of the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation, a director and member of the executive committee of Heritage Montreal Foundation as well as the president of the Drummond Foundation. He is a member of the Bar of Quebec, of the Canadian Bar Association and of the American Bar Association.
