Yi Wen (Jenny) Wang (RN, M.Ed.) is a nurse, educator, and PhD Candidate in Nursing at McGill University. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (2019) and a Master of Education (2021), both from McGill. Her research integrates childhood ethics and arts-based methods to amplify the voices of children living with chronic illness, ensuring that health resources are created with children, not just for them.
Jenny’s doctoral work focuses on co-designing a virtual reality-based educational tool to help children prepare for surgery. Her approach emphasizes participatory design, arts-based methodologies, and stakeholder engagement to ensure the intervention is both developmentally appropriate and clinically relevant.
In addition to her academic work, Jenny serves as President of McGillXR, a grassroots, student-led collective that unites students, researchers, professionals, and communities to explore how extended reality technologies, such as virtual and augmented reality, can advance health equity and social justice. She also leads community workshops on research writing, knowledge dissemination, and knowledge mobilization. She speaks English, French, and Mandarin.
