Jean Leclair has been a professor in the Faculty of Law at Université de Montréal since 1991. His research and teaching specializations are Canadian constitutional law (litigation on the division of powers in the Canadian federal system, constitutionalism and fundamental rights) the study of indigenous legal orders and indigenous peoples’ law, the study of federalist thought, and the history of Quebec and Canadian law. He has also been a member of the Quebec Bar since 1987, a 2013 Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Fellow, and a recipient of the Prix André Morel 2016-2017 for excellence in teaching in U of M’s Faculty of Law.
