FIVE 2023 SCHOLARS AND A MENTOR PUBLISH ON THE ROLE OF STORYTELLING IN PUBLIC HEALTH

Catherine Stratton, Holly Mathias, Carlos E. Sánchez-Pimienta, Vena Joseph and Laura Thibeault, 2023 Scholars of the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation, co-authored an article with Joseph Wong, 2023 Mentor, on the role of storytelling in public health.

STORYTELLING AS A PUBLIC HEALTH COMPETENCY

The article argues that storytelling should be recognized as a core public health competency and highlights the need to adapt its practice to contemporary challenges.

The authors examine, among other issues, the impact of generative artificial intelligence, misinformation and disinformation, colonial legacies, and the ethical considerations surrounding the sharing of lived experiences.

The publication grew out of a storytelling workshop organized by the five Scholars. It illustrates how Foundation activities can spark new ideas and lead to collaborations that continue beyond the programs.
