Fields of Interest

Robert Huish is an associate professor of international development studies at Dalhousie University.  Dr. Huish’s research covers a wide range of topics concerning global health and the impacts of sanctions. Author of Going Where No Doctor Has Gone Before: Cuba’s Place in the Global Health Landscape and Come from Away: How Rolling Stigma from COVID-19 Shaped Global Health for the 21st Century, Dr. Huish's research explores the connections between good health and social justice.

Dr. Huish held the Ron Lister Visiting Research Fellowship at the University of Otago in Dunedin, New Zealand, and he is an adjunct faculty fellow at Western Sydney University in Australia.  He has held visiting fellowships at McGill, The University of Victoria, The University of Leipzig in Germany, and the University of Wroclaw in Poland. Dr. Huish received the prestigious Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences teaching award and was named one of Canada’s most innovative educators in the Globe and Mail’s “Our Time to Lead” series.

He is also the host of the podcast “GDP: The Global Development Primer, which is available on podcast platforms worldwide.
