Fields of Interest

Making ethical issues in healthcare relevant and accessible to the public matters to Meredith Schwartz. In 2002, when her friend Tara was diagnosed with a rare cancer, the pair found little information aimed at the patient. Putting her research skills to work, they poured over studies and articles in medical journals, pulling out the medical dictionary when needed. Tara's experience with the disease and as a patient navigating Canada's healthcare system combined with Meredith's social and ethical passion for disseminating knowledge has led to the forthcoming publication Gestational Trophoblastic Neoplasia: Patient's Guide to Choriocarcinoma, Molar Pregnancy, and Other Tumours of the Placenta.
