Edith Brunette is an artist and researcher. She is pursuing a PhD in political studies at the University of Ottawa, where she is interested in the different conceptions of Canadian artists' freedom and their influence on their political engagement.
Her artistic research has been presented in various locations across Canada (La Galerie de l'UQAM, Skol and DARE-DARE in Montreal, Le Lieu and La Chambre blanche in Quebec City, Axenéo7 in Gatineau, Cinéwork / Western Front in Vancouver) and abroad (art3 center, Valencia, France; Tenjinyama art center, Sapporo, Japan) and regularly publishes in various art publications (ESSE art + opinion, Inter, Liberté). Actively involved in the arts community, she is co-founder of Journée sans culture, a platform for discussions for art workers.
