Announcing the Foundation’s first Named Scholarship

The Mary-Jean Mitchell Green | Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Scholar

The Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation is proud to announce as part of its 2021 Scholarship program the introduction of the Mary-Jean Mitchell Green | Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Scholar. Thanks to the generosity of Alexander and Andrew Green, this year's cohort of Scholars will include one additional member, chosen based upon the Foundation's selection criteria and to be announced as part of the 2021 cohort this spring.

The Foundation knows what it means to make a real difference by empowering our Scholars to become positive changemakers in their communities and institutions. As we seek innovative ways to grow and offer our world-class program centered on Engaged Leadership development for cutting edge doctoral researchers, we are turning to the generosity of those who want to join us in making a difference.

The creation of the Mary-Jean Mitchell Green | Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Scholarship represents a watershed for the creation of even more spaces in our Scholarship program, which stands as an international model for leadership training for academics. As the Foundation continues to seek new and innovative ways to bridge the gap between academic and applied knowledge, generous donors play a key role helping ensure more potential Engaged Leaders have an opportunity to benefit from our program.

The Foundation fosters the development of Engaged Leadership skills through a three-year program centered on curriculum taught by Fellows and Mentors in settings that take Scholars outside of a traditional university setting. By working alongside others who have a diversity of perspectives and come from different backgrounds, Scholars learn leadership by stepping outside their comfort zone.

Our Scholars are chosen not only for academic achievement, but also for setting themselves apart through critical thinking skills, a willingness to take risks, their radical curiosity, their talent for collaboration and a commitment to building a better and more inclusive world. The Mary-Jean Mitchell Green | Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Scholar is no exception, and will additionally ensure an outstanding female doctoral candidate researching in the field of business joins this year's cohort.

Thanks to the generosity of Alexander and Andrew Green, the 2021 cohort will include the Mary-Jean Mitchell Green | Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation Scholar, supporting the legacy of the Foundation's namesake, particularly through a focus on the Foundation's four themes and our Building Brave Spaces leadership curriculum.
