The Public Interaction Program (PIP) fosters the development of a dynamic Foundation community, whose members’ work contributes to evidence-based policymaking and positive social change.

Main Program Objectives
1) Incubating: Promote connections among Scholars, Fellows, and Mentors to build a dynamic Foundation community that supports each member to engage in public policy debates and translate their research and other work into social impact;
2) Amplifying: Equip Foundation community members with skills, platforms, and opportunities that enhance the public benefit of their research and other work; and
3) Disseminating: Convene or participate in public policy discussions that bring Foundation community members together with stakeholders from civil society, the private sector, and government, to foster evidence-based discourse and collaboration.

High-impact Community Events
The Foundation organizes regular events:
1) Public Policy Conference: This biennial invitational event aims to connect the Foundation with the Canadian public, foster evidence-based discussion around a topical public policy issue, and disseminate research.
2) Summer School: This gathering establishes close relationships among active members of the community, trains and reinforces skills for Fellows provided by Fellows, mentors and other specialists, welcomes new Fellows, and celebrates Fellows completing their term.
3) P.E. Trudeau Talks: Fellows are invited to give a public talk at the end of their term. The purpose of these talks is to establish links between the Foundation and the Canadian public, to emphasize the importance of social sciences and humanities research for public policy development, and to disseminate the research undertaken by Fellows during their term.
4) Mentors-Scholars Meeting: This annual meeting formally introduces Scholars to Mentors and vice versa, encourages the relationship-building between Scholars and Mentors, and fosters training and skills-building for Scholars provided by Mentors.

The Public Interaction program events will take place in every region of Canada with regional parity on a rolling three-year basis:
