2023 Cohort Gathering – Whitehorse, Yukon

As part of the annual event organized with the 2023 cohort, the Scholars, Fellows, and Mentors met from May 19 to 23, to exchange ideas on topics closely related to their fields of specialization, in the spectacular setting of Whitehorse and surrounding areas, in the Yukon Territory. Enriching discussions took place on the theme of “Voices,” with the participation of exceptional Yukoners who shared the challenges and realities of the Yukon Territory in all its economic and socio-cultural uniqueness.

Among others, the 2023 cohort had the honour of meeting Tony Penikett (2016 Mentor), who shared his experiences as former Premier of the Yukon and as a negotiator in various roles of na-tional and international importance. Participants also had the privilege of meeting Audrey McLaughlin, MP for Yukon in the House of Commons from 1987 to 1997, leader of the federal New Democratic Party from 1989 to 1994, and the first woman to lead a major federal political party in Canada.
