    Born in Saskatoon, Dr. Deborah Saucier is a member of the Métis Nation of Alberta. Dr. Saucier holds a Ph.D. in psychology from the University of Western Ontario and a BA and MSc in psychology from the University of Victoria. She received her International Baccalaureate diploma from the Lester B. Pearson College of the Pacific in Metchosin, near Victoria. Dr. Saucier has held several senior leadership positions, including President and Vice-Chancellor of Vancouver Island University, President of MacEwan University and Provost and Academic Vice-President of the University of Ontario Institute of Technology. Prior to her administrative roles, Dr. Saucier was a Canada Research Chair, known for her work in both psychology and neuroscience. For her advocacy work to promote equity, particularly for Indigenous learners, Dr. Saucier received the CCIB award for leadership and the King Charles Coronation medal. Dr. Saucier is also a long-time an advocate for women in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
