Chuck Strahl

Chuck Strahl has lived in British Columbia his whole life, joining other members of his family to develop a successful logging and road building business in the 1970s and 1980s. In the early 1990s, he was motivated by the federal political situation and inspired by Preston Manning to join the Reform Party. Chuck was elected in six consecutive federal elections, retiring on the eve of the 2011 election.

During Chuck's involvement in the federal scene, he advocated the unification of the conservative movement and eventually served as minister of agriculture, of Indian and northern affairs, and of transport and infrastructure in the Conservative government. A member of the Queen's Privy Council, he remains interested in policy development and current affairs, and continues to write and comment on political issues. When he's not entertaining grandchildren on his Chilliwack hobby farm, Chuck is working as a consultant on political, governmental, and business strategies.

Mr. Strahl was appointed Trudeau mentor in 2012. He joined the Board of Directors of the Foundation in 2014 and stepped down on 24 November 2016.
