Jack Diamond attended the Universities of Capetown and Pennsylvania where he received bachelor and master of architecture degrees respectively, and at Oxford University where he received a master's degree in politics, philosophy and economics.He has combined teaching and practice throughout his professional career, having taught at UCLA, Berkeley, University of Texas, and University of Pennsylvania (where he occupied the Graham Chair), University of Toronto and York University.
Diamond and Schmitt Architects Incorporated, based in Toronto, is an architectural practice of more than 115 people with projects undertaken across Canada, the United States, Israel, the Caribbean, Malaysia, the Peoples Republic of China, Cuba and the Czech Republic.
He and his firm have won many national and international awards, among them six Governor General's awards in architecture.
Jack Diamond is an Officer of the Order of Canada and a recipient of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada's Gold Medal, respectively the highest civilian and professional honors a Canadian can achieve. In June 2007, he was the recipient of a Doctor of Laws honoris causa (LL.D. Hon) from the University of Toronto.
