    It has truly been a privilege for me to be part of the big Trudeau community family. This unique experience not only provided me with financial support for my doctoral studies but also gave me access to the group of incredible people who are the scholars, mentors, fellows and Trudeau Foundation staff. Meeting these people expanded my horizons and opened my eyes to a variety of current issues, both within Canada and elsewhere in the world. Without the Trudeau Foundation, I would never have had the chance to take part in international conferences and be introduced to the most renowned researchers in my field. I would never have had the opportunity to talk about Quebec and Canadian politics with Roy Romanow or Quebec culture with René-Daniel Dubois. The Trudeau Scholarship rewards doctoral students who have a deep sense of commitment and the conviction that they can do something to improve the world around them, and it gives us the tools to do so. This experience has profoundly changed my life.

  • Biography

    Geneviève Pagé has been a professor in the Department of Social World at the Université du Québec en Outaouais since June 2011. She is a regular researcher with the Groupe de recherche et d'action sur la victimisation des enfants (GRAVE). The dissertation for her Ph.D. in social service, at the Université de Montréal, examines the sense of being the parent in parents who foster a child with the hope of adoption through Quebec's Banque-mixte program. With her research, she hopes to shed more light on the reality of the various players involved in child adoption in the youth protection situations (that is, the children, their birth and adoptive families, social and legal professionals) in order to improve intervention practices, social policy and legislation. She sees herself as a person committed to improving the wellbeing of children and families all across Canada and reducing social inequalities.
