Lilia Yumagulova, 2008 Trudeau Scholar, has participated in a NATO science workshop examining global climate change and local adaptation in Hella, Iceland, on June 6-10, 2010. As part of a team of 60 international experts (scientists, engineers and policy makers), Lilia evaluated recent advances in the understanding of climate change, its subsequent management and adaptative measures at regional and local levels.

Kristi Kenyon, 2007 Trudeau Scholar, has been awarded a Kappa Kappa Gamma Scholarship in recognition for her academic excellence and her awareness of the needs of others. Kappa Kappa Gamma is one of the oldest women fraternities and continues to promote a broad college experience for young women across North America.

Nathan Bennett, 2010 Trudeau Scholar, has been awarded the Robin P. Armstrong Memorial Prize for Excellence in Native Studies in recognition of his Masters of Environmental Studies thesis (Nature Based Recreation and Tourism, Lakehead University) entitled "Conservation, Community Benefit, Capacity Building and the Social Economy: A Case Study of Lutsel K'e and the Proposed National Park."

Edward Roberts, 2010 Mentor, is the most recent recipient of the Lieutenant Governor's Award for Excellence in Public Service. This is an annual award sponsored by the Institute of Public Administration of Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador Region and given to an individual who has had an exemplary career in public service.

William Tayeebwa, 2008 Trudeau Scholar, was invited to 2010 Congress of the Humanities and Social Sciences at Concordia University for Human Rights Day under the President's Conference Series to share his research insights on a panel entitled "Denounce: The Abuse of Children." Samuel Spiegel, 2006 Trudeau Scholar, served as panelist for the 18th Session of the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development for the Ministerial Roundtable on the thematic session on mining, which was held at the UN Headquarters in New York on May 12, 2010. His speech was entitled 'Governance Strategies in Artisanal Mining Communities: Supporting Livelihoods and Enhancing Social Opportunities.'
Tamil Kendall, 2009 Trudeau Scholar, has received the Canadian Association for HIV Research New Investigator Award (Social Science) at the Canadian Conference on HIV/AIDS Research, which was held in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on May 16, 2010.
Jeremy Schmidt, 2009 Trudeau Scholar, has co-authored a paper entitled 'Hunting with polar bears: problems with the passive properties of the commons' in the journal Human Ecology.
Lindsey Richardson, 2009 Trudeau Scholar, has co-authored a paper entitled 'Factors associated with employment among a cohort of injection drug users' in the journal Drug and Alcohol Review 29(3): 293-300.
Rajdeep Singh Gill, 2006 Trudeau Scholar, has been awarded a two-year Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council Postdoctoral Fellowship. His postdoctoral research project focuses on Ecologies of Non-human Creativity: Cultivating Connectivity, Cognitive Justice, and Earth Democracy.

Magaly Brodeur, 2009 Trudeau Scholar, has received the Chercheur-Auteur de la relève 2010 Prize from les Presses de l'Université du Québec for her manuscript entitled 'Vice et corruption à Montréal : L'époque de la prohibition des jeux de hasard et d'argent au Canada'. Her manuscript will be published by les Presses de l'Université du Québec and will be launched at the 2011 ACFAS Conference.

Grégoire Webber, 2004 Trudeau Scholar, Acting President of the Trudeau Foundation Society and Lecturer in Law at the London School of Economics and Political Science, has written two articles on the question of bilingualism of the Supreme Court judges and the Governor General of Canada. The first one entitled "Bilingualism: A Legal Competency" was published in The Mark on April 15 and the second one entitled "Many Citizens are not bilingual, so our leaders must be" was published in the April 20th edition of The Ottawa Citizen.
2004 Trudeau Scholar Jillian Boyd was selected as part of the Recruitment of Policy Leaders Program (RPL) of the federal governement. Following the announcement, she seized the opportunity to recognize the key role of the Trudeau Scholarships in her personal journey: "It cannot be said enough that the Foundation provides so much more than a scholarship. It provides a family of ongoing support which can help each of us achieve our greatest dreams and aspirations. Every day I recognize how much I have benefitted from my time as Trudeau Scholar and i am deeply appreciative."

The Honourable Michel Bastarache, Trudeau Foundation Board Member and retired judge of the Supreme Court of Canada, was appointed chairman of a public inquiry commission by the Quebec Premier Jean Charest. The mandate of the commission is to investigate allegations by Marc Bellemare about the process of appointing judges of the Court of Québec and the Administrative Tribunal of Québec, particularly with regard to allegations of influence by third parties through the process and also through the process of appointing judges to municipal courts and members of the Administrative Tribunal of Quebec.
James Tully, 2003 Trudeau Fellow, received a Killam prize in recognition of his achievements. The specialist in political theory is known for his writings on English philosopher John Locke, examining constitutional theory in an age of cultural and legal pluralism. Since 1981, the Killam prizes have recognized annually the career achievements of five Canadian scholars.
Vincent Pouliot, 2005 Trudeau Scholar and assistant professor in the Department of Political Science at McGill University, has published his first book entitled International Security in Practice: The Politics of NATO-Russia Diplomacy (Publishers: Cambridge University Press).
Julia Christensen, 2008 Trudeau Scholar, launched at the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage Centre in Yellowknife on April 4th, 2010 an exhibit of artwork, photography, writing, video, etc. from youth across northern Canada in the spirit of the International Polar Year. She has been leading this project with a small team for the past three years, motivated by a desire to showcase life in the North through the eyes of youth. Two members of the Trudeau community were honored at the Order of Canada Investiture Ceremony that was held at Rideau Hall, on Wednesday, April 7. The Honourable Michel Bastarache, Trudeau Board Member, was named Companion of the Order of Canada while the Honourable Edward Roberts, Trudeau Mentor 2010, received the title of Member. One of our most eminent jurists, Michel Bastarache is known for his invaluable contributions to protecting the linguistic rights of minority communities. He is renowned for his support of the development of common law in French at the faculties of law at the University of Ottawa and the Université de Moncton, where he was also the dean. Edward Roberts has served as a model of duty, leadership and achievement. A leading cabinet minister under three provincial premiers, he was instrumental in bringing about important reforms in the areas of health, education, social services and government administration.

Christopher Cox and Lisa Szabo, 2009 Trudeau Scholars, have been recognized at a Celebration of Research and Innovation held at Myer Horowitz Theatre at the University of Alberta on March 30, 2010. This annual event celebrates the breadth of research and creative activity at the University of Alberta, and the impact of the university contributions to Albertan and Canadian society as well as around the world.

Christopher Cox, 2009 Trudeau Scholar, was recently awarded the 2010 Western Association of Graduate Schools (WAGS) and University Microfilms International (UMI) Distinguished Master's Thesis Award for his M.Sc. thesis, "Verbal complementation in Mennonite Plautdietsch: A corpus-based, constructional approach." The award, granted annually to one candidate among those recommended by the 140 WAGS-affiliated graduate schools in Western North America, is intended to recognize the development of an innovative technology and its utilization for the creative solution of a major problem.

The Writers' Trust of Canada announced that John English, a Trudeau Foundation Member, won the Shaughnessy Cohen Prize for Political Writing for his biography Just Watch Me: The Life of Pierre Elliott Trudeau, 1968-2000, published by Knopf Canada. The prize was awarded at the Politics and the Pen gala in Ottawa.
