Four Alumni Scholars have recently obtained Faculty positions in Canadian and Foreign universities: Margarida Garcia (2004), Assistant Professor, Faculty of Law, University of Ottawa; Robert Huish (2004), Assistant Professor, International Development Studies, Dalhousie University; Pierre-Hugues Verdier (2006), Associate Professor, Law, University of Virginia; Grégoire Webber (2004), Lecturer, Law, London School of Economics and Political Science (following a Senior Policy Advisor position at the Privy Council Office in Ottawa).

William Coleman, 2007 Trudeau Fellow, has been appointed Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada. The official induction will take place end November in Ottawa. Professor Coleman is the CIGI Chair in Globalization and Public Policy, Balsillie School of International Affairs and Department of Political Science, University of Waterloo.

Magaly Brodeur, 2009 Trudeau Scholar, has received the Thought Leadership Award in Public Administration, a joint initiative of the Institute of Public Administration of Canada and the Canadian Association of Programs in Public Administration, aims to recognize talent in Canadian schools at the regional and national level. The award was given at the Annual Meeting of the Institute of Public Administration in Fredericton, New Brunswick.

Christine Brabant, 2006 Trudeau Scholar, has written a chapter on Homeschooling in The Child: An Encyclopedic Companion, University of Chicago Press. Furthermore, she gave the closing lecture at the REGARD conferences on governance, analysis, thoughtfulness and debate in Namur, Belgium.

Professor Simon Harel, 2009 Trudeau Fellow and professor at UQAM's Literary Studies Department, received the prestigious title of Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, Academy of Arts, Humanities and Sciences. This distinction was given to him in recognition of his contribution to the world of social and scientific research, both nationally and internationally. The official induction ceremony will take place next November 28th at the Canadian Museum of Civilization in Gatineau.

Dr. Clare Bradford has been awarded the first $225,000 Trudeau Visiting Fellowship Prize from the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation. A professor in the School of Communication and Creative Arts at Deakin University, Melbourne, Australia, Dr. Bradford will be a Visiting Professor of literary studies at The University of Winnipeg in the 2009-2010 academic year. Her innovative research examines the interplay between children’s literature and social practices, and particularly representations of Indigenous peoples and cultures in children’s books.

William Coleman, 2007 Trudeau Fellow, is the new Center for International Governance Chair in Globalization and Public Policy at the Balsillie School of International Affairs and Professor of Political Science at the University of Waterloo. Prior to this nomination, he was the Founding Director of the Institute on Globalization and the Human Condition at McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario.
