Trudeau Mentors
Who can be nominated?
Anyone can be nominated who meets the criteria set out below. Furthermore, the candidate is a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or otherwise legally allowed to reside in Canada for the period that person would benefit from the funding.
Who can nominate a Trudeau Mentor?
The Foundation seeks nominations on an ongoing basis from external advisors who are nationally and internationally recognized leaders in academia, government, business, the voluntary sector and the arts.

Can I apply for a Trudeau Mentorship myself?
Trudeau Mentorships are unsolicited prizes and, as such, the Foundation does not accept applications from individuals.

What is the nomination process and what are the criteria?
For those who are invited by the Foundation to act as nominators, the nomination process is as follows.
Although there is no nomination form, a strong nomination letter is essential in the review of a candidate's file. It should refer to:
(1) outstanding creativity in policy analysis and implementation;
(2) the nominee's ability to engage in lively exchange with other Mentors, Fellows and students; and to
(3) a commitment to work directly with Trudeau Scholars (doctoral students) on issues related to one of the four themes of the Foundation (human rights and social justice, responsible citizenship, Canada and the world, humans and the natural environment).
A detailed curriculum vitae will help the reviewers in their selection. We keep the names of nominees and nominators (aside from University Presidents) strictly confidential. We ask that confidential nominators, in turn, not reveal their role to anyone. Nominators should not contact their nominees regarding the nomination.
