DIY Gender Policing: Doxxing, Transmisogyny and the Weaponization of Visibility

Abigail Curlew is a journalist, doctoral researcher, and trans feminist who specializes in advocacy around LGBTQ+ human rights, surveillance studies, and research around social media, doxxing, and trolls. 

She is currently designing her SSHRC-funded dissertation project which will blend ethnographic and investigative research to illuminate the practices and strategies of anti-transgender trolls and digital vigilantes. Abigail is currently writing a book titled “DIY Gender Police: Doxxing, (Trans)Misogyny, and the Blight of Far-Right Digital Abuse” for Between the Lines Press which should debut in the coming year. Her bylines have appeared in Briarpatch Magazine, The Conversation, and Vice Canada.
