2004 mentor Louise Arbour was recently honoured by the Alumni Society of Université de Montréal with its Order of Merit Award. The award is given to those who embody hard work, discipline, courage and success, and who make important contribution to the world. Arbour graduated from the Université de Montréal’s Law School in 1970. The award recognizes her illustrious career, which includes positions such as United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Justice of the Canadian Supreme Court, and the Chief Prosecuter of the International Criminal Tribunals for the former Yugoslavia and Rwanda.
