Former Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation President and current Director of the Munk School of Global Affairs Stephen Toope has been nominated as Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cambridge. He will become the first known non-Briton to hold the post once his nomination is approved by the university’s governing body. This new position will mark a return to his alma mater for Mr. Toope, who earned his PhD. from the university in 1987. University of Toronto President Meric Gertler remarked “while we are very sorry to be losing him, this is a great honour and tremendous opportunity that reflects the depth of Professor Toope’s scholarship and the strength of his academic leadership.”
