Professor Stephen J. Toope, a former president and now a member of the Foundation, and Professor Cindy Blackstock, 2012 mentor, have been elected to the Federation for the Humanities and Social Sciences Board of Directors. Professor Toope will be President of the Board until March 2015, and Ms. Blackstock will act as Director of Equity and Diversity. The mission of the Federation for the Humanities and Social Sciences is to promote the value of learning and research in the humanities and social sciences, to disseminate the knowledge to the public, while providing services for its individual members and member institutions.

Professor Toope is vice-chancellor at the University of Cambridge. He has been the president of the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation.
