Steven Hoffman, 2012 scholar and the scientific director of the Canadian Institute of Health Research's Institute of Population and Public Health, has announced 20 new planning grants to support social scientists working on population or public health as they prepare applications for Canadian Institute of Health Research's Foundation and Project's grants competitions.

This funding -$20,000 per year for up to one year- is intended to provide social scientists with an opportunity to develop competitive grant proposals for research focused on improving the health of populations and promoting health equity in Canada and globally. Application deadline is 20 February 2017.

These grants are the first time that CIHR has ever had a funding opportunity targeting health social scientists who are based in social science departments” - Steven Hoffman, 2012 Trudeau scholar, and scientific director of CIHR Institute of Population.
