Évangéline: Contes d’Amérique, a book by 2007 Trudeau Fellow Joseph Yvon Thériault, is a finalist for the 2013 Governor General’s Literary Awards in the category of French non-fiction. The winners will be announced on 13 November 2013. Professor Thériault’s book will be part of the group publication launch organized on 20 November 2013 in conjunction with Trudeau Foundation Week.

In addition, Professor Thériault will play the devil’s advocate for a debate entitled The Creation of Republican Institutions as the Instruments of Government. The debate will take place on Thursday 31 October 2013 at UQAM and will be hosted by the Canada Research Chair in Globalization, Citizenship and Democracy (Chaire de recherche du Canada en mondialisation, citoyenneté et démocratie) and the UNESCO Chair in Studies of Philosophic Foundations of Justice and Democratic Society.

Joseph Yvon Thériault

He is the founding Director of the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research on Citizenship and Minorities at the University of Ottawa where he holds the Chair in Identity and Francophonie.
