2012 Trudeau scholar Dan Werb and research scientist at the BC Centre for excellence in HIV/AIDS has been awarded a $1.5 million-US research grant for a five-year project on ways of preventing injection drug use and the spread of addiction.

He is one of four inaugural recipients of the Avenir Award from the US National Institute on Drug Abuse. The study will involve 4,000 people and will be conducted in six cities around the world. For more information: The Province
