Public Screenings of Trudeau Mentor and Nova Scotia filmmaker Sylvia D. Hamilton’s The Little Black School House. The filmunearths the little known story of the children, women and men who studied and taught at Canada’s racially segregated Black schools. It is a poignant and unfailingly honest evocation of the struggle of African Canadians to achieve dignity and equality through education. Original music composed by Joe Sealy. These Vancouver Black History Month events are sponsored by SFU’s Human Rights Office, the Dean of Applied Science and the School of Communication.
