In Montreal on 19 February, 2006 Trudeau fellow Jocelyn Létourneau, Canada Research Chair in Contemporary Political History and Economy in Quebec at Université Laval will participate in a lecture/debate entitled «De l'identité historique des nations à l'ère de la mondialisation», at the invitation of 2007 Trudeau felllow and Canada Research Chair in Globalization, Citizenship and Democracy Joseph Yvon Thériault and of the Chaire UNESCO d'étude des fondements philosophiques de la justice et de la société démocratique.

He studies 20th-century Quebec and how its citizens came to define themselves.

He is the founding Director of the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research on Citizenship and Minorities at the University of Ottawa where he holds the Chair in Identity and Francophonie.
