    Jacques Hébert, Senator and founding President of Canada World Youth and Katimavik, is a native of Montreal. He has earned a Master in Commerce from the École des Hautes Études Commerciales de Montréal. As a citizen of the world, he has traveled the globe from the earliest stages of his career. A print and television reporter, founder and director of Éditions de l’Homme (1958-1961) and Éditions du Jour (1974-1961) and president of the Association of Canadian Publishers (1965-1974), Jacques Hébert is a prolific author who has published more than 40 books in both French and English. Appointed to the Senate in 1983, Mr. Hébert’s positions have included Vice-Chairman of the Liberal National Caucus (1993-1998) and Chief Government Whip in the Senate (1993-1998). As an Officer of the Order of Canada and the Order of La Pléiade and Knight Commander of Merit, Sovereign Order of Saint John of Jerusalem (Knight of Malta), he has been the recipient of many prizes and honours.

    Mr. Hébert was a founding member of the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation from January, 2002, until his passing on December 6, 2007.
