Roy Heenan is Chairman and founding partner of the Canadian law firm of Heenan Blaikie LLP with offices in Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, Quebec City, Sherbrooke, Trois-Rivières, Calgary, Vancouver and Kelowna. He was called to the Quebec Bar in 1961 and specializes in administrative and labour law, which he taught for many years at McGill, Queen's, Ottawa and Laval universities, and is the author of many published articles on law.
He also served on the Board of Trustees, Queen's University, including five years as Vice-Chairman.
Mr. Heenan was appointed a Director of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in July 1995. Mr. Heenan is Chairman of the International Historic Heritage Foundation, and is also a Director of Kasten Chase Applied Research Limited. He was President of the Board of Directors of the Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal (1994 to 1998) and is a noted art collector.
Mr. Heenan was named an Officer of the Order of Canada in 1999, and is Chairman and founding director of the Pierre Elliott Trudeau Foundation.
